Jon is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a bachelors degree in Construction Engineering.
After college, he worked for a large commercial general contractor in Minneapolis, MN, but missed the residential construction atmosphere he grew up around.
In 2006, he joined Beatch Construction and has since taken over the majority of estimating while continuing to experience the “hands-on” aspects of the construction industry. Jon enjoys meeting clients and the challenge of a constantly evolving homebuilding industry.
Fall, leaves changing and cooler weather after the hot summer
What makes you laugh the most? My kids, their personalities and humor
Best trip ever taken? Any trip without cell phone service. We had a great family trip to Aruba a couple years ago and we try to go tent camping in the Black Hills every year. We stay at the same site every year but find different things and hikes to do every time.
Family? Wife and 3 daughters
Tom graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering from North Dakota State University.
After college, he worked for a large commercial general contractor before landing at a carpentry and demolition contractor in Minneapolis, MN. There he worked as an estimator and project manager on a variety of commercial projects. He started to miss the personal satisfaction of being more hands on with a project.
Tom joined Beatch Construction in 2018 and appreciates witnessing the homeowners’ reactions to progress on their projects at the end of the day
Favorite movie? I don’t really have a favorite movie, but I enjoy action/adventure movies and sci-fi.
Do you collect anything? I don’t collect anything. I enjoy reading as a hobby. Historically based fiction novels in particular. James Rollins and Bernard Cornwell are a couple of my favorite authors.
What do you like most about Sioux Falls? I enjoy that Sioux Falls is big enough to have plenty of amenities (sports teams, concerts, theater, etc.) but without being too big. It’s still easy to get around and easy to get back to nature between the bike trails and state parks in the region.
Family? I got married during the pandemic to a high school friend and together we have 2 sons.

He has been inducted into both the state and local Home Builders Hall of Fames, which recognize and honor individuals who have made significant and lasting local, state, and national contributions to the housing industry.
Your first paid job? Full time was on a pole crew at United Building Center in 1972.
First concert attended? There was a ballroom in Tyndall SD that had groups like the Guess Who, and The Grass Roots or Chicago. I went there several times in 1971 and 72.
Favorite type of project and why? Furniture type projects because I’m not on time restraints and I’ve always loved cabinet shop type projects
Family? I’m a rich man with a caring wife and 3 grown kids with families of their own
